I've Been Nominated
A letter from Who's Who Among American Teachers addressed to me was sent to my former place of employment. Since my mom works there it landed in her box.
I don't know who exactly nominated me, but I have my suspicions. The web site says high school kids who made the student version do the nominating, so... Like I said, I have my suspicions.
In other news, I'm involved in a covert operation this Sunday. A select few of us at work are meeting Leo for a send-off dinner. The man is considered such a black sheep that this was planned in whispers, and the guest list was very VERY limited. I think there are five or six of us invited.
As for this Who's Who deal, perhaps the best part is that the principal gets a free copy. I just wish I knew which principal it would be. Current? Former? Who knows. If it weren't so dang expensive, I'd be tempted to get a copy for the other one, whoever that may be, but I won't. Too spiteful. I'll just gladly show the current one the letter. Hmm. It would be kinda nice to show the former one too... but that also would be spiteful.
Ah, what a moment. I look forward to showing it to those whose opinions of me won't change. You know, the people who will cheer just because they're my friends. The people for whom this won't be seen as an attempt to win points or gain status, because, honestly I don't care.
In the long run, the recognition means nothing. What means something is that some kid thought I made a difference. That is cool!
A part of me does wish a certain person were still alive to rub her nose in this one. Something tells me that would be, again, spiteful. *sigh*
Apparently, I've got plenty of work to do.
