Oh, the Drama!

There's something about waking up to the sound of rain that makes me want to stay in my nice warm bed. It's a hot tea, cup of soup, and good book sort of day. Especially when I realized I was still congested and have only half a voice.

Driving in the rain is no picnic. Traffic is bad enough anyway, but once the road gets wet, it becomes a nightmare. Accidents happen, and people tend to forget how to drive. Then more accidents happen. My twenty minute freeway commute became an hour long exercize in patience and breathing as I attempted to not hit or be hit. Sadly, there is no good way to get to work by roads once I am on the freeway. Otherwise, I may have avoided the twenty-five minute four mile back-up resulting from a semi that went off the road and onto its side, blocking the right lane.

I have a kindergarten class on Wednesdays at 8:30. I walked into the library at 8:28. Fortunately, the class was late. Even more fortunately, they were late enough to allow me time. I was able to turn on the computer and the lights, eat a muffin, take my medicine, check bloglines, and calm my nerves a bit before they arrived.

And then one of the boys puked right outside my door. So the class was late, there was grossness and chaos, and then the domino effect set in. In the next ten minutes, two more thought they were going to throw up. They, at least, got to the bathroom before anything happened.

Now I'm breathing, writing, and listening to chant in an effort to reclaim this day.
