Exhausted
It is 4:30 pm on Saturday. I worked from 8:45 to 3:45. I had free breakfast and lunch, which make up for the fact that I was totally on my own after noon, and the place was as busy as I've ever seen it in twelve years from 1 until 2. Apparently, I wasn't supposed to be left on my own all afternoon having only been there a week, but that's what happened. It was fun, but I'm tired.
Yesterday I worked an hour longer, then came home and worked on putting my house back together, but not for long. I was too tired. So instead, I read Holes again. Then I read another teen adventure novel.
Thursday the crew was still here. We put a second coat of paint in the bathroom, carried the sofa and chair outside to steam clean them, steam cleaned the carpet, carried the furniture back in, finished all the little things in the bathroom, stuff like that. Oh, and we pulled up 1/4 of the living room carpet. It was a mad house.
Before bed Wednesday night, I went downstairs on a quest for tiramisu. The carpet puddle at the base of the stairs was still there. In fact, it had spread. I realized something was wrong at this point. I wandered to the phone to check the answering machine, and it was wet there. As I explored, I realized three things. First, my living room was a veritable marshland. Second, I had a potentially serious problem on my hands. Third, thank God, the project was going a day longer than they'd expected, or I'd have no help.
So, yeah. The bathroom project started Monday. With all that happened in that, added to my work schedule and the drama that gave me today, I need a nap. Sadly, this is still a circus. The carpet is propped up on my kitchen chairs. Today I get to put the pad back down and pull the chairs.
What I really want to do right now is zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
