Chronicles in Senility, or How I Will Likely Be at Age 80
Grandma's rememberer broke. She's pretty confused today. She knows who we all are, basically. What she has lost is kinship. One of today's gems went something like this.
(Looking at me)
Has he been your father the whole time?
No, only for the last 29 years or so.
Or this...
Is he your father?
Yep.
Poor kid.
She was very frustrated at my parents that they've been married for thirty-four years and never told her. We tried to tell her that she's known all along, but she would have none of it. She also wanted to know why she didn't know I was her granddaughter.
It's sad.

my grandfather is going through this right now. It is really tough. Some days he in his mind, is building a house, other days he is fishing. Some days he knows who I am, other days he calls me random other names.
This is really really hard on my father, who is my grandfather's main caretaker right now.
It sucks to be old.
I never want to be old.
so there.
Yep. Not fun, but it can be a good thing. My step dad forgot that he is deathly afraid of flying and flew to Paris and London when his broke. So I guess he "was" afraid a flying. Also, your 29? I keep thinking of you being in college somewhere around 21 or 22. Man, this just added more gray hair.
