O Frabjous Day!

It's Friday! I have one nearly ideal lead for housing! My laptop is repaired! For less than a docking station would have cost!

Things were starting to look like they were taking a turn for the much worse again. First, my laptop started showing signs of power failure again, which I knew was not going to be pretty. He's 4 1/2 years old, out of warranty, and I've been told before that this is a seriously expensive repair. With school, The Boy still too far away, and no internet at home for my desktop to use, the laptop is absolutely necessary. It was a stressful situation!

Then, in the middle of the mental, emotional, and physical intensity that was Holy Week, I came home to find an eviction notice. Guess I was further behind than I thought. Too much drama demanding payment lately. That pretty much blew my ability to deal well with school that night, so I proceeded to fail the quiz.

Vladimir the Laptop chose last weekend to take a nosedive in his power connector issues, finally becoming nearly unusable on Monday.

Life happens, and boy and girl was it ever happening to me last week!

But last Thursday, a mere two days after the notice, I was waiting for my turn with Counselor, when I saw a room for rent notice posted on the message board at the Baptist church. It was in the town where most of my life is. It was posted by friends I've known since I was in high school. And sure, it's just a room, but rent is half what I'm paying now and includes utilities.

Dr. Recruiter offered me the opportunity to retake the quiz I bombed. He said it's standard procedure, not a special favor. I really don't care what it is; it's a chance to improve. I'll take it.

I saw the room for rent last night. I hadn't considered it much until yesterday, but I realized a few things when I saw the place. First, I'm really tired of living alone. It's good to be around people. And these are good people. And they have two pet rabbits. And wireless internet. And they live about as close to my church as I do, and just a little farther from my work. They have a park and a swimming pool next door. She works for the organization with which I went to China nine years ago. He went on the final trip to Nolinsk, Russia two years ago. (The one I didn't go on.)

Seriously, the only way it could possibly look more perfect is if they were Orthodox. Then I could learn Orthodox things from them. But this is a really really good prospect. They're hoping I'll take it, because it's as good for them that we know each other as it is for me!

My laptop went to work with me yesterday. One of our Chamber computer guys came by to pick it up this morning, and it came back this afternoon! Vladimir is fully repaired! Woohoo!

So here I am on Friday night after the longest two weeks in recent memory, and things are looking pretty decent.

Phew! So glad, Spidey...But you coped. You didn't unravel while practical things seemed to be unravelling around you, and that is so good. Hugs for a stress free weekend :-)
