Ideas?
I am in need of good ideas for a birthday celebration. Parameters: I'm broke.
I'm just not interested in having yet another depressing birthday. Not this year.
Any ideas?

Tall Skinny Kiwi [the king of "on a budget"] had an amazing Willie Wonka party for his daughter. Check out his post.

this is absolutely free and not as cheesy as it sounds:
take a friend to your nearest Hallmark store (or anywhere with a big greeting card selection). Take turns choosing and reading silly birthday cards.
Then go to Wendy's for a Frosty.
When is the special day?
Call up your friends and ask them out to a dinner/bowling, dinner/movie, or dinner/skydiving event. Explain that it's dutch treat minus one (and guess who the "one" is!).
Or, arrange to have a sing-along party/potluck.
Or a "wear that outfit you never thought you'd have the occasion to wear again" party, get Del Taco and go mini-golfing.
Could you invite people to go out with you to a place that has inexpensive "Happy Hour" plates of food? I've eaten some great meals that way, for only $3 a pop--
Then afterwards you could go play frisbee in a park, take silly pictures posing with statues, or whatever else you dream up.
Enjoy your b-day!
