Grammar!
Tonight we started the new series of classes at church. This is a ten week overview of the history of the Church, covering two centuries of history each week. As a huge bonus, we get a brief introduction each session to the next week's tone in the tone cycle. Lisa, our "choir director" is wonderful, and I must admit that I am possibly more excited to be learning the music than the history. I like being useful, see, and I can't see any real way for me to be useful other than with this voice I've got. It works pretty well, if I can get past the nerves, so I know I could at least contribute that way.
Lisa brought her youngest daughter along. She was sitting on the floor working on her history homework. Mary's a sixth grader at the first school I worked at, the school where, once upon a time, I was a sixth grader. We chatted about school after the class was done. She's ok with history, but not so much the part they're dealing with now. She's not such a fan of science at this point. It doesn't make sense to her. She really doesn't like math. Her favorite subject, though, is English. I grinned. She can spell anything she's seen written, because she can memorize, but she's not so good with the pronouns and stuff like that.
Well. Do I even need to tell you what happened? I was a sixth grade language teacher. My sixth grade teacher still remembers me as her best grammar student. I have a degree in linguistics. I diagram sentences for fun. I have the grammar songs I grew up with on my iPod for Pete's sake.
I told Mary to call me if she needs grammar help. Her mom and brother both have my number.
For the record, for the first time in... never mind how long, I came home feeling like my life might actually have meaning.

You diagram sentences for FUN? This is WAY more serious then I thought!
Hey! Never forget you are loved, and I don't just mean by the Big Fella either! You are our Sister in Christ and therefore you are a part of something WAY bigger than yourself. Your life have more meaning then any of us can ever hope to understand. The hard part is getting our "feelings" out of the way to get to the truth. You mean something to us!
Marko
Marko, I know that. Usually. It's just that I have felt like a drone for quite a while.
I've felt that way. I'm very glad to hear you got that pick me up. We need them sometimes.
You can't take the teacher out of the spidey!
LOL, grammer songs on your iPod...
